Company Background
Encore Tackle was founded with the goal of reintroducing several lines of lures that for one reason, or another, were discontinued even though they enjoyed widespread popularity. Over a five-year span, we researched a number of different manufacturing options, including teaming with well-known manufactures. Time after time, we were told that Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”®️ was hand built and the lure couldn’t be manufactured today using modern manufacturing techniques. Well, they were wrong, and we are pleased to re-introduce Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”®️ to anglers after an absence of 50+ years. Additional lures from Encore Tackle will be making their encore performance in the upcoming months, so stay in touch.
Encore Tackle sells our lures and merchandise exclusively through our online store and through a limited number of carefully selected partners.
Proudly Made in the USA
People ask us “Why do you manufacture your lures in the United States?”. We ask in return: “Why wouldn’t we?” Encore Tackle proudly manufactures Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”®️ in the United States and we salute other fishing tackle companies that choose to manufacturer their products here in the USA. When you purchase a Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”®️, you are supporting American jobs and American families. We sincerely appreciate your support.
Fresh Thinking
Since Encore Tackle sells our lures online, they were never intended to hang from a peg board in a retail store. As such, we use non-traditional packaging. Since we aren’t trying to catch fishermen in a store, we have eliminated the colorful cardboard hanging cards and plastic blister packs. Sadly, sometimes the plastic packaging is dropped on the shores of our lakes, rivers, and bay systems, remaining there for years.
Like our customers, Encore Tackle loves the outdoors and take seriously our responsibility of being good stewards of our watersheds and fisheries. We felt the need to bring fresh thinking to our packaging strategy.
Goal 1: Eliminate all plastic.
Instead of plastic bags and blister packs, Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”™ spinnerbaits are placed on die cut cardboard inserts and then slid into rigid paper tubes. This environmentally friendly design keeps the lures safely in place during shipment, without the use of plastic.
Goal 2: Biodegradable materials
Most fishermen are not litterbugs; however, plastic packaging can inadvertently slip out of the most careful angler’s hand or blow out of the boat while underway. We know because it has happened to us before. Therefore, we made the decision to use only biodegradable packaging materials so that any packaging that inadvertently gets left behind will break down and disappear in several months.
Goal 3: Crush Resistant
When you see the quality of our feathered tails firsthand, you will find them to be extremely thick and plush. Our feathered tails come alive in the water and gamefish can’t resist them. Our packaging prevents them from being crushed and helps keep the feathered tails in pristine condition until you are ready to fish with them.

Fishing Techniques
Paul Bunyan’s Lucky “66”®️ inline spinnerbaits are great for both fresh and saltwater fish. They can be fished in shallow or deep water. Keeping your rod tip up allows you to retrieve the lure just beneath the water’s surface.
Try different retrieves to discover what the fish like. A steady retrieve will often yield good results. Try varying the speed of your retrieve in different seasons. Adding a rod twitch every 5-10 seconds during your retrieve will help draw reaction strikes.
Paul Bunyan's Lucky "66"®️ spinnerbaits can also be trolled for pike, muskies, walleye, and lake trout. The easy-open wire form allows you to easily change out the feather tail for a bait harness.
In saltwater, Paul Bunyan's Lucky "66"®️ is a great choice for speckled trout, redfish, and snook in back bays and over grass beds. The 1-ounce version is great for jetty and surf fishermen that target stripers, jackfish, and blues.
During summer months, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, and Mahi Mahi can't resist brightly colored Paul Bunayn's Lucky ""66"®️ trolled behind a boat.
